Prime Minister breaks promise and sends more troops to Iraq

The Prime Minister has attracted severe criticism for breaching an earlier promise that Australia would not substantially increase it’s troop numbers in Iraq. But now Australia will double the number of soldiers deployed within about 10 weeks, when another 450 troops will be sent to southern Iraq. The Opposition says the government did not tell the truth about its intentions, and is pressing the PM for details.
