The Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) are planning to launch a campaign this weekend after months of negotiations over pay and conditions for waterside workers came to a halt. The action will include work bans and 24-hour stoppages at major ports around Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle. Australia’s leading stevedore, Patrick, is appealing the Fairwork Commission’s decision to allow the Union to go ahead with the strikes later today.
