Rich Australians are almost three times as likely to access Medicare-funded psychological services as low-income earners, a report released today found. The report says that access to specialised mental health care has improved for all Australians since the new scheme – known as Better Access – was introduced in 2006. But experts argue that affordable mental health services are still out of reach for many low-income, rural and young Australians.
