An advertising campaign supporting a price on carbon pollution was launched in Canberra today. The ‘we say yes’ statement, supported by 140 prominent Australians and community groups, calls for the introduction of a carbon price and investment in renewable energy. Several newspaper articles, and members of the opposition suggested yesterday that people on low incomes are unlikely to listen to wealthy celebrities like Cate Blanchett. But Ellen Sandal, National Director of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, and one of the organizers of the campaign, says that the supporters of the statement are a diverse cross section of Australian society.
