Polls show support for Iraq War slipping

The US House of representatives is expected to approve a bill today, which will see an extra $82 billion dollars contributed to the War in Iraq. The news of the massive funding boost follows a poll in which found 59% of Americans would support a pull of troops from Iraq. Meanwhile, in a poll released in Australia today, voters have put Labor ahead the Liberals in a poll, for the first time in seven months. While worsening economic conditions are believed to have played a role in the poll, the surge of support for the opposition is believed to be due in part to Howard’s commitment of another 450 troops to the Iraq war. The question is though, do polls count in the long run? In a moment we will hear from US peace studies professor, Simona Sharoni, but first, we asked some Australian voters what they had to say on the issue of our involvement in Iraq.
