Debates surrounding Gonski have been swirling for many years, with each side of parliament accusing the other of politicising education funding for personal gain. States have been pitted against each other in a race for better deals and more funding. It seems unlikely that this is going to change.

The long term effect of debate is felt most in the front line: teachers in classrooms. Without funding certainty teachers face an unknown future for their jobs, their programs, and their resources.
