PM talking land leases in Wadeye

It’s the sixth largest town in the Northern Territory and has been described as one of the poorest, most under-educated communities in Australia. Today, Wadeye had the full attention of Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD and therefore national media. Mr Howard’s visit to the Top End community sparking what could be the first step in a radical change to Aboriginal land rights. Commenting on the Wadeye plan for people to lease land, were Wadeye (Tharamoor) Council CEO Dale Sinniger, NT Chief Minister Clare Martin, ALP Spokesman Kim Carr, NIC member Warren Mundine and Academic Larissa Behrendt.
