Today is the inaugural shareholders meeting in New York for tobacco giant Philip Morris. To coincide with this event, public health and youth groups are demonstrating worldwide against the expansion of this multinational company. Back in Australia, groups such as Action on Smoking and Health are urging for Philip Morris and other tobacco companies to butt out of public health policy. There are claims that Philip Morris is still trying to set the agenda in public health and are using sneaky marketing ploys to target smokers. NOTE: Philip Morris International was contacted but was not available for comment.
