Permanent Protection Visas bring relief, security and happiness. But in a strange twist, they also make a university education more expensive and less accessible for people who come to Australia as refugees. Temporary Protection Visa holders can defer their HECS fees under an Access Scheme, but Permanent Protection Visa holders cannot. The principal of Adelaide’s St Aloysius College Sister Judith Redden explained the situation to Anna Day.
