Patchy media coverage of indigenous issues making for poor policy

The way indigenous issues are covered in the media is sometimes leading to bad policy, according to a group of academics studying how these topics are reported. They say some indigenous issues get no coverage, while other issues receive short bursts of intense media interest. These periods of acute media attention can lead to quick policy responses that don’t take account of the existing evidence in the field.
