The federal government is currently developing our first national space policy. Experts in the field say that mention of an Australian space policy too often conjures dreams of exploring Mars, or, even worse, an outbreak of giggles. Brett Biddington is a consultant to government and the private sector on space matters. He says that we need a pragmatic policy approach to space-based technologies, one that leaves most of the dreamier aspects of space exploration up to others.
