After causing the death of more than 60 people in the Carribean, hurricane Sandy has crossed the coast of the US. Large parts of Manhatten are underwater, and Atlantic City is also subject to flooding. Residents of New York have been bunkered down in their houses. In those places where the power is still on or phone batteries are still strong, residents are keeping a close eye on social media. Despite some amount of misinformation circulating on Twitter, many residents say that it has become a vital news source.
