A report from the NSW Government’s Animal Research Review Panel has shown that almost 9,000 animals are killed for research in NSW each year. Although the issue of animal testing is a quiet one in Australia, this may be set to change. The truth is – it’s not a few thousand animals. It’s millions. Glenys Oejges, Executive Director of Animals Australia, says the reported annual figure of 8,800 animal deaths in NSW is nowhere near the actual total.
