New South Wales has enacted the Serious Domestic Abuse Prevention Order (SDAPO) scheme aimed at tackling domestic violence, giving police the power to track offender’s phones.
Under the scheme those with a serious history of abuse are required to disclose it on dating profiles.
The measures are among the first of their kind in Australia and could influence how other states approach offender accountability and survivor safety.
With domestic violence remaining a national crisis, the reforms are sparking discussion about how technology and law can work together to address the issue.
