No NSW back down on stamp duty

NSW Treasurer Andrew Refshauge today announced that the NSW state government would not back down on its pledge to maintain stamp duties, in the face of Federal Treasurer Peter Costello’s threat to cut GST funding to the state. Refshauge maintained that NSW was getting the short end of the stick, after figures released by the Carr Government showed that GST revenue leaving NSW wuld cotninue to grow by $100 million per year.
