You’d have to be living under a rock not to know that the Vatican has chosen a new pontiff in a surprisingly short conclave yesterday. The man chosen as head of the worldwide Catholic church may not come as a surprise. As German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, he was the Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, the man responsible for enforcing theological orthodoxy. But now he’s the 265th Pope, can Catholics expect more of the same from Benedict the 16th? Or donning the papal robes at the age of 78, will he feel the time for change is now?
