A high level international trade meeting in Delhi this week will see the US put under pressure to cut protection of their domestic farm production. Trade Ministers from Brazil, the European Union, India and the US are meeting today in India to try to restart the World Trade organisation DOHA round of talks. The talks stalled last time on agricultural issues but the European Union has since drastically cut tariffs and export subsidies and is ready to make fresh deals. EU spokesman on agriculture MICHAEL MANN says the other countries will expect America to make similar cuts to the protections it currently gives its farmers.
