As another asylum seeker boat was intercepted off Christmas Island this morning there are reports a new deal between Australia and Indonesia may soon be signed.

Indonesia’s Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro has told ABC radio an agreement may soon be signed allowing Australian vessels to enter Indonesian search and rescue zones without perimission from local authorities. But will it actually save lives?
