New coalition pushes for asbestos-free Australia by 2030

The number of cases of Asbestos-related disease is likely to grow unless a national approach is taken. That’s the key message of a summit held today in Sydney by a new coalition of interest groups who aim to have Australia asbestos-free by 2030. The coalition, which includes the ACTU, Cancer council, victim support groups and disease experts, say that without a federal government plan, people will remain in the dark about the prevalence of the hazardous material, and the dangers of DIY home renovation.
