New app could link generations of Indigenous Australians

Your iPhone could be the next best means for preserving thousands of years of Indigenous culture. App in development ‘Digital Ranger’ identifies landmarks and landscapes by snapping them through your iPhone camera. An Indigenous elder or custodian will also pop up to tell a 90 second story or history about that image. Digitizing these histories could be a great way to salvage stories and heritage that through verbal communication may otherwise be lost forever.
