Sussan Ley’s leadership is under threat as the Coalition is troubled by internal divisions over committing to a net-zero policy.

Last week the Nationals announced they were scrapping their commitment to net-zero by 2050, leading to chaos within the Coalition as moderate Liberals are eager to hold onto the commitments.

This crisis only adds to the woes of the Coalition, with the party recently polling a historic low of 24%.

Sussan Ley has previously stated that her party would not adopt “net zero at any cost”, and is focussed on energy policies which ease cost-of-living and rising energy prices.

Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg has suggested a possible compromise may involve committing to a net-zero target which has no set date attached to it.
