One in twenty Aboriginal people in jail are serving a sentence for unlicensed driving and other related driver license offences, but less than half of eligible Aboriginal people even hold a drivers licence.

Advocacy organisations are demanding the New South Wales parliamentary inquiry into road safety address these issues head on.

But is there likely to be a U-Turn to what some groups are calling systemic disadvantage?
