A group of residents on South Australia’s remote West Coast have been campaigning against abalone farms in the area which they say will endanger local sea lion colonies and spoil the pristine nature of the area. Wild storms this week have blown the existing farm apart and left the coast littered with baskets and bits of rope. Local Democrat MLC says the mess makes a strong point about the dangers of putting more abalone leases in the area.
