Earlier today, the Islamic Women’s Welfare Council of Victoria launched a media guide aimed at improving relations between Muslim communities and the media. The “Islam and Muslims in Australia” media guide is an attempt to shed light on the basics, as well as the more controversial and complex areas of Islam that journalists grapple with when reporting on issues related to Islam and Australian Muslims. Joumanah El Matrah is the manager of the Council and she said the project started with speaking to journalists and asking them what they thuoght they needed to know more about.
