Pollution from the redundant Baal Gammon mine has contaminated local water systems in the Northern Queensland region.

Residents of Watsonville have been instructed not to use the water.

It’s not the only mine that has caused environmental issues in the state, raising concerns over accountability in how the mining industry and state governments handle closed mines.
