The United Nations Millennium Summit in September 2000 brought world leaders together in New York where they agreed to halve extreme poverty by 2015. With only 5 years remaining some countries are well on track but many others will struggle to reach their targets. Former New Zealand Prime minister, Helen Clark is the current head of the United Nations Development Program. She’s voiced concerns over the progress of the goals and the detrimental effect the Global Financial Crisis has had here in the pacific.
