From foster children to spiritual identity to phone sex for grandmas…this year’s Message Sticks Indigenous Film Festival is sure to have a few surprises and laughs in store. From tonight, t13 emerging filmmakers will show their wares under the theme: Bits of Black Business at Tandanya Cultural Centre in Adelaide. Cath Keneally spoke to manager of the Australian Film Commission’s indigenous branch Sally Rile about tonight’s line-up. Filmmaker Dena Curtis explored the theme of mother-daughter relationships in her film Hush, looking at phone sex among older people. She explains why she explored this concept in her film.
