Byron Shire Council has introduced a boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS)- policy against Israel, the second council to impose such a policy in Australia.  There has been controversy over how anti-semitism is defined and what should be done to dial down middle east conflict from spreading in Australia

At the Gold Coast, the Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism was held to share strategies to combat hate and to promote social inclusion at the local level.  The Summit was opened by Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles on video link.
