Australia is the only Western country that does not have a Human Rights Act or equivalent. But in Sydney on Wednesday night, the online magazine New Matilda launched their campaign to change all that. They have drafted a Bill which they’ve now opened up for public consultation – with the aim of having it introduced to Federal Parliament as a Private Member’s Bill. New Matilda’s Policy Coordinator Nicholas Carney explained how it all started.
