Our phones have become so integrated with our lives they sometimes take priority over our own safety. And this is true, even when we know better.

Research published in Risk Analysis: An International Journal has suggested that Australians are fully aware that using the phone while driving is risky – for the safety of themselves and others, as well as for their demerit points and in fines.

So, why is it that Aussies take a chance to fumble with our touchscreens as we try to play our favourite tunes over bluetooth, navigate with a GPS on our lap, and even send a quick text to let people know we’re on our way?
