The St Vincent de Paul charity has raised questions of the Governments plan to mandatory drug test Newstart recipients.

A person who refuses to submit to the drug test will have their payments cancelled and a person who tests positive once will be automatically placed on income management for two years.

The Government plans to test 5000 recipients at the start of next year in three locations: Canterbury-Bankstown (NSW), Logan (QLD) and Mandurah (WA).
