Live cattle exports to Vietnam are under the spotlight following footage of Australian animals being slaughtered with a sledgehammer in an abattoir not approved by export authorities. The matter is being investigated and the Government has said they are not taking stronger action yet, but animal rights groups are again calling for a live export ban. Farmers, whose livelihoods rely on exports, say there are better alternatives to ensure the humane treatment of livestock and keep Australia in the market.
