The Royal Commission in to Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has recommended that clergymen that do not report instances of child sexual abuse in the confessional should face punishment.

It’s a move that has angered Catholic leaders, who believe the sacredness of the church confessional should be preserved.

Child sexual abuse survivor Mr Peter Gogarty believes that lifting the lid on the confessional would go a long way to ending child sexual abuse inside the Catholic Church.
