Legal reform and contraception key to decrease abortion rates

A report from the Guttmacher Institute, responsible for research into advancing sexual and reproductive health, has revealed new information on abortion and unintended pregnancy rates.

It has revealed that, although unintended pregnancy rates were falling worldwide, it varied widely depending on region. The report also showed that when legal reform (allowing abortion) and contraceptive use combined it lowered the overall rate of abortion.

Having access to safe abortion was also flagged as important for women in developing and developed countries. But what does this mean for the future?
