Last week the suicide of a ten year old Aboriginal girl devastated a Kimberley community. It was later revealed the girl had witnessed her then-14 year old cousin’s suicide just three years earlier. It seems this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Indigenous youth suicide and self-harm, and some authorities have labelled it an epidemic. So what’s causing the suicides of so many Indigenous children?
