In what is expected to be their last hurrah, the Australian Industrial Relations Commission today increased the minimum wage by seventeen dollars per week. Under the Australian Government’s workplace reforms, the Industrial Relations Commission will be severely curtailed as most decisions on wages will go before the controversial new Fair Pay Commission. But not all eyes were teary at the end of this morning’s events … Mark Lennon, Assistant Secretary for Unions New South Wales told Christine Baker it would help 1.6 million workers across Australia.
