Shocking numbers have come out of the first report to ever quantify Australia’s universities’ sexual assault and harassment problem.

Findings showed that 1.6% of students were sexually assaulted in a university setting, with 21% of those assaults occurring at a social event at university or a residence social event.

Universities have pledged to work holistically to combat the issue.

Another survey will be conducted in three years’ time.
