As confidence in both the government and the opposition dwindles to a new low, support for the Greens has hit a record high. Newspoll figures out today revealed the Greens now share 16 per cent of the primary vote—which has more than doubled since 2007. Both the Prime Minister and the opposition leader have suffered losses in terms of their personal performance ratings and their own primary votes. It’s good news for the Greens, who are expected to take up some of the slack come election time. But it paints a grim picture for voters the next election.
