In many communities in Kenya around 80% of young women undergo female genital mutilation as has been the custom for generations.
Dr Kakenya Ntaiya stood up against this archaic ritual which has harmed women for so long, and along with underage marriage has been part of the reason girls have only had limited education.
Graduates from her school are now in Universities like UTS, University of Sydney and the University of Western Sydney thanks to a program to help educate and empower young women in Kenya
