A report released this morning revealed that the seizure of performance enhancing and body building drugs have reached an all time high in Australia. The number of detections increased in 2009-10 from 2695 to 5561 in the last year.
The Illicit Drug Data Report by the Australian Crime Commission found there has been a doubling of the number of performance drugs intercepted in Australia in just one year. Although these types of drugs are illegal in Australia, they are in fact legal in other countries and are being facilitated by the internet. Experts say the higher interception is due to a combination of better methods for detection as well as a greater demand for the drugs.
