A former Israeli soldier, Wahid Taysir, has been found guilty of the manslaughter of a British civilian. The student, Tom Hurndall was shot in the head while participating in protests against the Israeli military in the Palestinian town of Rafah. Witness told the case that the officer had targeted Mr Hurndall with a sniper rifle with a telescopic sight. And while the army originally denied the claims a full inquiry was eventually held and charges were laid. Some observers claim the Israeli army uses targeted killing of Palestinians and foreign civilians who oppose their occupation. Tom Hurndall was working with the International solidarity group at the time of his murder. Today the group welcomed the court ruling but said higher ranking military personnel should have also been disciplined. The Wire spoke earlier with British National and ISM activist Roger Smith about the verdict.
