The Independent State of Iraq and Syria or the Levant as it has been called, appears to be the most extreme of all Islamic fundamentalists operating in the Middle East. The latest flashpoint as been in Arsal, Lebanon. Hezbollah say they will defend Lebanon alongside the Lebanese Army. But events further north in Kurdish territory could turn into an even worse humanitarian disaster.
