The South African election is underway and a new party is expected to have an impact on results. The African National Congress (ANC) has held on to government since the overthrow of apartheid 20 years ago and many older South Africans remain loyal to them. But the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) lead by Julius Malema are gaining traction with the younger population of ‘born-free’ South Africans. While the ANC are expected to win it is expected the EFF may take away up to 15 per cent of the vote.
