A recent independent review into the Murray Draft Darling Basin quota was undertaken by the Goyder Institute, who revealed that they believe 3,200 gigalitres of returned water is the minimum solution to ensure optimal health of the basin.

This is 450 gigalitres more than the quota which exists currently within the Government’s draft plan. Environmental Minister Tony Burke is excited by the scientific findings, believing it adds credibility to their campaign, though some parties are not quite convinced.
