In July last year, five young white Alice Springs locals assaulted Indigenous man Kwementyaye Ryder, in the Todd River bed. Mr Ryder died as a result of the attack. The men recently received their sentences, the most severe of which was a 4 year term in gaol. The incident has caused much tension in Alice Springs, but has hardly been covered by mainstream media.
