The Indigenous issue remains in the spotlight as Canberra continues to put pressure on communities and call into question the status quo. Indigenous Minister Mal Brough, released a discussion paper suggesting that the permit system which currently allows Indigenous communities to determine who enters their lands such as Anangu Pitjantjatjarra be removed. Member for Lingiari and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Northern Australia and Indigenous Affairs, Warren Snowden spoke to The Wire about the repercussions of removing the permit system.
