Conventional wisdom on Northern Territory election voting patterns has been turned on its head over the weekend, with the vote of Aboriginal people in remote communities the decisive factor in the NT’s change of government. Traditional Labour seats in rural electorates suffered the biggest swings. Indigenous election candidates say the results show Labor has failed to listen to the concerns of Aboriginal voters.
