Hurley faces trial today

Today, Queensland Police officer Senior Sergeant Chris Hurley faced court in Townesville over the 2004 death of Palm island man Mulrunji Doomadgee. Mulrunji was found by the Queensland Coroner to have died from injuries most likely sustained in the Palm Island watch house. While proceedings in the two-week long case were calm today observers on all side note that the case remains and emotionally and politically charged event. The Wire compiled this report.
