So, could climate litigation twist the arm of governments across the world to commit to further emission reductions?

Could you sue the Australian government for inaction on climate change? That was the question was raised earlier last year when a Dutch court decided the government had a duty of care to protect its citizens from the effects of climate change. The court even specified the government should cut carbon emissions by 25 per cent by 2020.
