Social change is sweeping France – although it doesn’t seem to be pleasing the public. President Francois Hollande has just legalised gay marriage and continues to tighten the country’s austerity belt, but his approval rating is hovering around 25 per cent. While opponents of gay marriage take to the streets to voice their opinions, it remains to be seen whether Hollande will harden his policy approach, in order to save his own political skin.
